Chapter 19- Scammers and Deceitful Students (6)
Mr. Author, I don’t know what you’re thinking in your head, but this development is too much. What do you want me to do with the main character? Why should I help you in the first place? Clayo complained incessantly in his thought, feeling bitter.
It wasn’t long, though, as the idea of using Editor’s Authority flashed before Jeongjin’s mind after he had anxiously wracked his brain for a solution.
‘Yes, let’s go back and rewrite this!’
However, his opportunity to do that is limited only for three consecutive attempts. As such, he is determined to exploit the chances now. Moreover, the most effective way to end a case is by interrupting it at the start. So, he wouldn’t need to go back to the very beginning. But he definitely could start from the scene of the restaurant or the lecture room on that Monday morning.
Despite understanding the fact that the author might refuse to incorporate some of his modifications at any time, he still has inclined to try. After all, trying was better than doing nothing.
I resolved to take my chances!
Finally, Jeongjin desperately used the Editor’s Authority and started to recall his memory. Suddenly, the back of his hand ignited, and a golden string of letters appeared before him.
[Unique skill: the ‘Editor’s Authority’ is now activating, No. of uses left: 2/3 Time left / Time limit: 00:00:14 / 00:00:15]
Soon a piece of paper appeared before him.
The setting looked messy while a torn sheet of paper quickly went backward and stopped on Monday’s dining scene.
Clayo picked up his pen, drew a line, and drafted the following sentence.
‘Delete the whole scene.’
However, unlike before, a shocking and strange message belatedly appeared on it.
[-The author does not accept this proposal. ‘Editor’s Authority’ does not apply without the author’s consent.]
The manuscripts then slipped away from Clayo’s hand. But despite the fact, Jeongjin wasn’t surprised by the outcome. He knows from the depth of his heart that the author was the real creator of the story. And no matter how reasonable he was, the authors were those individuals who usually didn’t listen to others’ opinions that easily.
In the meantime, Arthur walked closer to Clayo when he saw him sweating profusely from his forehead and asked.
“Are you sick? Why are you sweating so much?”
“Never mind.”
Without looking back at Arthur, Clayo tried to invoke his “Editor’s Authority.” again.
If I can’t change it now, it becomes a big problem for me. Whatever happens, I won’t give up. I should give it another try. If I can’t turn it back, just do something to lessen my predicament!
[Unique skill: ‘Editor’s Authority’ is now activating, Caution: usage limitation within the chapter has expired. No. of uses left: 3/3 Time left / Time limit: 00:00:14 / 00:00:15]
Fifteen seconds was not enough to review the contents, but he had no other choice. So, he desperately searched the manuscript. Fortunately, he found a plausible sentence in the last paragraph he could edit, a phrase where Arthur described Clayo as curious and doubtful.
‘Okay, let’s fix this part.’
He then thoroughly omitted the original sentence and drafted a twist: [Arthur summoned by the dean and got fed up with Clayo, as planned].
The sentence he devised just now was incredibly sloppy. But that couldn’t be helped. After all, he wasn’t a good writer since he had never written even one line of fiction in his life, aside from a cover letter.
‘Can you tell me anything? Whether I’ll live or not, depends on you! I must see it! Ugh, fine. Just apply it now!’ He thought desperately, clutching the manuscript as if it was his lifeline.
However, at that instant, he felt as if a sharp gaze was stabbing his back. Apprehensive, Clayo turned around, still holding a pen, and faced Arthur, who was closer than expected. Not only that, but Arthur’s appearance also looked cold.
‘… he didn’t move, right? Or did he move? But… No way!’
When he previously activated this skill, Ishiel and Nebo stopped on their track, looking like they were dead. And they also had no clue that anything strange had happened at all. It was not only them, even Behemoth, the smart cat, didn’t have the slightest clue about the bizarre incident that occurred inside the living room.
However, right now, Arthur was exhibiting different behavior than them. He was occasionally closing his eyes before opening it again. Both hard and slow.
The sight of Clayo Asser using “Editor’s Authority” and Arthur Riognan, the subject of the skill application, collided in the air.
‘How?’
Then, around the two boys, a mixture of blue and gold lights exploded.
[Arthur Riognan is intensely involved in the composition of the manuscript. Your lack of narrative intervention is also preventing you from exerting influence on him. In an excessive attempt to revise the original of <The Prince of the Kingdom of Albion > has made some texts scratching and damaging.]
The world that has destroyed soon re-established itself, one by one, like a mosaic. At that moment, Clayo was pulled from behind by something, making him feel terrified. It was further augmented when he saw his background reconstructed firmly.
Then, a fragment of shining letters has implanted in his mind.
‘Stop… Stop it. Stop. Revoke!’
[<The Prince of Albion Kingdom> <Final High>, some of the revisions got mixed randomly. The internal consistency of the narrative is now compromised.]
Soon, blood dripped down from Clayo’s nose to his lap. It wasn’t only him who was bleeding, however. Black blood was also trickling slowly out of Arthur’s hand. The two boys seemed to be gravely wounded at the moment.
“Clayo, you, what the hell… Do something…” Arthur said.
