Chapter 33- The Main Duty of the Student (11)
The four students, whose names were called upon, came forward and stood closer to Professor Jevedi. All the while ignoring the chattering crowd of students behind them.
“Who’ll go first?” The dean asked.
That question caused the three girls and one boy to look into each other’s eyes. Then, without further ado, Clayo quickly took a step forward and volunteered.
“I’ll go first,” Clayo said.
“Alright, Clayo, it is. Are you going to draw magic formulas, or are you going to try to open a circle?” Jevedi asked.
“I’ll open a circle, sir.”
At his declaration, Ishiel breathed in sharply. If she could speak at this time, she would have shouted at Clayo, “You liar!!”
Nevertheless, Clayo had no time to think about others’ reaction to his decision. He merely grasped the practice wand in his hand tightly and tried not to look back as much as possible.
I didn’t want to admit out loud that I have bitten more than I can chew, but my current situation is a bit… Jeongjin thought, body tense with nerve.
However, he couldn’t take back the arrow that had been released. As such, before commencing his move, he first considered his options. Initially, he intended to hide his skill and just reveal enough talent to pass. However, Behemoth knew Clayo couldn’t get more than 50 points in the primary subjects of swordsmanship. As such, he vehemently disagreed with Clayo’s plan with a shudder.
“You are worse than a scarecrow in swordsmanship! So, by all means, you should get a perfect 100 for the basics of magic! Otherwise, your allowance and savings, along with my liquors, would be blown away!”
When it came to grades, Clayo believed in Behemoth’s words without a doubt. As such, he consented to go through the cat’s ‘short-term hell camp’ and studied like crazy. As a result, he finally succeeded in opening a circle on his own the night before yesterday.
And it was all thanks to Behemoth, who could feel the ether energy accurately. Because of that ability, he was able to guide him on how to circulate it by hitting his stomach, back, and shoulders 100 times.
You’ve to circulate the ether correctly to raise its level to a higher one. Remember, don’t just pull it from the outside, but also pull it up from the heart. Then, pull it out! Imagine the circle you want to draw vividly and hold it in your heart as you bring it! Jeongjin recalled the cat’s words.
Even at this moment, Behemoth’s squeaky voice seemed to resound right in his ear. Although he felt a bit intimidated when he saw Jevedi’s circle, Clayo steeled himself. He began to circulate the ether to his heart as he extended his practice wand forward.
Soon, a golden circle rose from under Clayo’s feet. Despite his best efforts, though, the ring he made only reached around 2.5 meters in diameter—a far cry from the one Jevedi made.
What h*eck? I can’t even open it myself, but he is already able to do so? You are fantastic, Clayo. One of the students thought.
“Wow!”
“Whoah! That’s-”
“Weeeee!”
“What?! A circle?!”
“It’s a circle!”
“That’s incredible.”
The Angelium twins exclaimed with identical sweet voices. And though their sound wasn’t loud, it rang above the loud noises the other students were making. However, this clamor failed to reach Clayo’s ear as he was engrossed in implementing his magical formula.
It was easy for him to perform the [Wind] magic because he had already memorized it in his head. However, his execution of [Sunhwa] was a little late, causing it to bounce off from the first formula because it didn’t overlap perfectly. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do anything to fix that, so he just continued onward.
As such, the [Wind] magic formula began to spring up. And soon, the ether shone brilliantly, completing the magical charge.
I can’t do it. It’s too hard for me to combine two formulas! He thought.
Since [Wind] was the only formula active, he still could use some other words from his original world to suppress this spell
‘I’m sorry, but since I don’t have literary talents, I’ll have to borrow a passage. Jeongjin thought before he chanted out loud.
“[A strong wind passed, shaking the tender buds of May!]”
The magic circle then burned brightly. And the Wind that came out was not at a level of mere breeze. It was a storm! And though it was a single-point storm, it shook the magic circle Clayo made, violently ruffling his brown hair and disheveling the hem of his school’s uniform jacket.
The violent [Wind] was trapped in a narrow circle. As such, it turned into a golden gust that raged up to the sky. It was as if there was an eye of a typhoon hovering above the training ground. Thus, Clayo was unable to resist, allowing his light body to be swayed and swept away by the power of the strong Wind.
He didn’t give up, though, as he quickly came up with another magic formula to keep himself still amid the ferocious winds trapping him. And this time, there was simply no time for him to think of any beautiful phrase to use. So, he made do with a simple sentence.
“[Barring caster!],” Clayo exclaimed.
Flop-
At that line, the ether’s line shone brightly that no one was able to see Clayo falling to the ground, much to his fortune. Clayo shaded his eyes and frowned as he stood up and shook off his dusty uniform. After that, the storm only lasted a few more seconds before it naturally stopped.
Seeing this spectacle, the other students were stupefied. They were in such awe that words failed them. And it was not only limited to the students. The instructors and assistants who were nearest to the training ground were also equally astonished. All of their attention was glued to the training ground instead of delivering the lecture in their respective classroom.
The circle Clayo did was undeniably a second-level circle. And though it only consisted of one magic formula, its power was already comparable to that of a fourth-level wizard. From this, people could see that Clayo was indeed a great talent.
While everyone else was still astonished, Jevedi opened his mouth and spoke with a solemn voice. His gaze, as he looked at Clayo, was severe and passionate.
“You’re the first freshman to do this since the last one who opened the circle 52 years ago, Clayo Asser.”
“Is that so?” Clayo asked.
“That student’s name is Jevedi Fusis, and he is now the only eight-level wizard in the Albion Kingdom,” Jevedi said.
No, sh*t. You’re good at lacquering your face with gold when you speak, huh. Jeongjin thought.
“You must have a senior who could guide you when you practice. Your score is perfect. And starting next semester, I recommend you consider taking a second-year class instead of staying in the first-year class.”
