The Elemental Tower - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: Bloodbath Hall
The Diamonds could not be deposited separately. Instead, it had to be spent in a bulk of 30 Diamonds to earn 300 Smelt Points and an opportunity to spin the wheel.
Lin Ke looked at the more than 1000 Diamonds in his possession, he was tempted. However, he understood what the Diamonds were and decided to resist his curiosity.
He was once crazily addicted to gambling. During his time in university, he would spend all of his food money on slot machines.
Each semester, he would lose thousands to the slot machines. Once, he even lost his entire semester fees to it!
Having bankrupted himself, Lin Ke was frightened. He locked himself in his bedroom and could not muster the courage to meet anyone.
However, it was also from that incident that Lin Ke learned his lesson. Although he still had not completely cured his gambling addiction, he was at least aware now that the slot machines were rigged each time he saw one.
After that, he borrowed some money from his friends and worked on a job while he studied until he cleared his debts. He had never touched any slot machines since then.
At most, he would only consume free Resources within games, playing minigames like wheel of fortune.
After all, it did not require real money. If he had lost all his in-game currency, he only needed to switch to another game.
However, when the wheel of fortune had manifested in reality, Lin Ke withheld his temptations. Considering that there was a free trial available, he hesitantly gave it his first try.
The rewards in the wheel were so attractive that Lin Ke nearly lost his self-control.
There were common items such as Silver, Wood, and Stone. However, they came in large quantities. If Lin Ke was to strike these prizes a few times in the early stage, Resources would not be much of a problem anymore.
There were a few options for the Silver rewards. The lowest of it was 50,000 Silver, then came 500,000 Silver until the highest at 2,000,000 Silver. Looking at it, it seemed that the 2,000,000 Silver reward was difficult to obtain.
Furthermore, there were also Divine Fruits, Forbidden Fruits, and a new item called Skill Lock – Lin Ke was not completely sure of what it was. It could perhaps be used to lock down a certain Skill or maybe unlock new skills in the future.
He had never seen it in the Market – it may have appeared in periods of peak sales, but Lin Ke just had not noticed it.
After all, Lin Ke did not have any Diamonds with him during those periods. He would rarely open the Market to indulge himself.
Lin Ke browsed the Market carefully and made sure he did not miss the item. From what it looked like, the item was difficult to obtain through the common platforms.
These items that were difficult to obtain using Diamonds were categorized by Lin Ke as mid-tier items in the wheel.
Then, there were items like the Mount Pellets and Wing Pellets, these could be purchased from the Market for a price of 30 Diamonds. It was equal to the number of Diamonds used to spin the wheel. Winning these prizes would not be considered a loss!
However, whether or not Lin Ke actually needed these items was another question.
In the end, these prizes still could not convince Lin Ke. They were mostly common items that could easily be purchased with money.
Then, there were 3 shocking premium items.
3 Red Grade Soul Shards.
5 Dark-gold Grade Soul Shards.
And a grand prize of 5000 Diamonds!
The reason why there were no Heroes specified for these Soul Shards was that these Soul Shards were not limited to any specific Heroes.
These were universal Soul Shards that could be used for any Heroes!
Dark-gold Grade Soul Shards could replace the Soul Shards for any Heroes who were Dark-gold Grade or below, whereas naturally, Red Grade Soul Shards could replace the Soul Shards for a Red Grade Hero.
However, Dark-gold Grade Soul Shards could not replace the Soul Shards of a Red Grade Hero.
Hence, they were distinguished by their color grade and also their quantities.
If Lin Ke could win 200 Red Grade Soul Shards from the wheel, he could then summon any Legendary Hero that he needed.
However, it was obvious that such a likelihood was pitifully small. He had played similar games like this one and understood just how low his chance was.
In regards to the prize of 5000 Diamonds, Lin Ke thought that he would be better off just not thinking about it.
Lin Ke used the one free pass he was given at attempting the wheel.
Following the rapid spin of the wheel, it was not long before the pointer gradually stopped. It pointed directly at the Divine Fruit!
A Divine Fruit was added into Lin Ke’s possession. This item was used to level up Heroes. However, Lin Ke had no way of doing so for now. He either needed to wait until his level reached Level 10 or for the Elemental Tower to reach Level 4.
It was only then that the Heroes could be leveled up. Otherwise, their levels would always be capped at Level 9 100%.
The Altar… No, the Elemental Furnace’s effect was just that. Lin Ke was mildly disappointed and decided to leave.
As Lin Ke still had ample building units, he did not intend to remove this Elemental Furnace. After all, it was still considered a Special Facility that offered him little surprises every day. He would leave it there first before he disassembled it when he had run out of space.
After that, Lin Ke did not head towards the Arena. Instead, he took a turn and went to Bloodbath Hall.
Ever since this building had been completed, Lin Ke had never had a chance to take a look at it. Today, the opportunity had finally arrived.
After Lin Ke first saw the name of Bloodbath Hall, he had always felt it was not in sync with the entire Fortress. To have a Bloodbath Hall in the Elemental Tower was weird, to say the least.
However, after the Altar had transformed into an Elemental Furnace, Lin Ke realized an important lesson. If there was a building, he should just use it. There was no need to care where the building came from.
Bloodbath Hall was a great hall that lived up to its name.
Lin Ke walked into the Bloodbath Hall and saw that it was a hall that had occupied a massive land area. In the center of the great hall was a huge golden chest.
However, the golden chest was inaccessible unless Lin Ke had defeated the protectors of the ten small houses he passed by on his way to the hall.
This building was one that required Lin Ke to break through several obstacles.
Lin Ke searched for the introduction of the Bloodbath Hall and understood its functionality.
Similar to the arena, the Bloodbath Hall also allowed him to project himself into battles.
The place he was at was the first level. If he could defeat ten protector teams, it would then be considered that he had passed that level and be eligible for the golden chest in the hall.
After defeating the first level, he would progress to the second level. The capabilities of the second level’s protectors were higher. If Lin Ke failed that level halfway, he would then need to restart his progress from the first protector of the second level the next day.
There were limited rewards from defeating the protectors. The best rewards were all found within the chests.
Before Lin Ke passed a level, even if he had defeated some protectors within the level, his condition would not recover.
In other words, if Lin Ke had sacrificed massively to defeat one protector, his condition would still remain unchanged when facing the next protector.
Under such situations, players would need to constantly switch between their heroes to accommodate the scenario.
Heroes could not respawn upon death and neither did Players – with exceptions given to high-class VIP Players. Each time, 5 battle units could be sent into battle. Upon a Hero’s death, the Hero could be switched out for another Hero. However, this was not the case for a Player’s death. In such an event, a battle unit position would be lost and only 4 Heroes could remain in the battle against the protectors.
