The Elemental Tower - Chapter 56
Chapter 56: So Many Soul Shards!
Lin Ke saw that he had only more than 100,000 silvers remaining in his inventory and let out a huge sigh.
He felt that he might be too impulsive with his decisions.
Lin Ke had relentlessly upgraded 3 equipment sets to Level 30, whereas the Equipment Chain function brought by the Research Center was only Level 1, the stats bonus was only granted to 10 levels for each of the equipment sets.
He felt that upgrading the remaining 20 levels of the equipment sets was not a wise decision, and thought that he might as well upgrade the Research Center too. That way, he could continue researching technologies for high-level Equipment Chains, granting the team even more stats bonuses.
However, Lin Ke remembered what he came here for; to test the waters in Bloodbath Hall.
“Now that I have enough Equipment upgrades, naturally I would stand…” Lin Ke looked at the battle formation in front of him and placed himself in the last line.
Was this not obvious? He was just an Average Rating weak ****, would it be meaningful to have him fight monsters in the frontline?
He might as well focus on dealing damage from the back. This way, he could contribute more to the team.
One must know, as the main player, one would use up a full battle slot once one dies!
Lin Ke did not think that he could be a useful defense for the others if he stood in the frontline. If Dra could not even withstand the enemy’s attack, he would have been long gone.
This battle was no different than that of the arena.
The protector stood in front with a bunch of NPCs, and Lin Ke defeated them with great ease.
He was still relying on Alice’s overpowering ability to multiply her rage which allowed her to instantly attack the entire group with her Skill, killing them all in the process.
This was not surprising at all. In fact, Lin Ke had anticipated this for the first level.
The reason was simple. Games like this would not immediately allow players access into areas with high difficulties, it was still a browser game after all. The early stages were always easy, then the difficulty would slowly increase. This way, players would be forced to top up and strengthen themselves to defeat more enemies.
“No matter how many times I look at it, Alice’s Skill is always so strong.”
Lin Ke was still impressed as he saw his team march forward under Alice’s Skill.
After defeating the protector, Lin Ke earned a few tens worth of Bloodbath Souls. It was a form of currency that was used to purchase items in a shop nearby called Bloodbath Market.
However, Lin Ke did not check it out. Everything inside would surely require that currency, and Lin Ke did not have much of it. He would definitely not be able to purchase valuable items.
He would be better off just continuing the battle. It would be a better idea to survey the shop once he had accumulated more Bloodbath Souls.
It was a smooth sail for Lin Ke. Alice’s Skill was close to wiping out all monsters instantly in almost every round of the first level.
She did not manage to pull it off in all rounds only because the protector of the tenth round still managed to survive with half health after Alice had used her Skill to wipe off all nearby monsters.
Even then, the protector was finished off with ease by one shot of Avina’s arrow, granting Lin Ke the completion of the first level.
The defeat of the protectors had earned Lin Ke 200 Bloodbath Souls. Although Lin Ke did not know the objective value of this currency, this amount of Bloodbath Souls would be considered a decent amount according to the game’s rules.
After all, Lin Ke could no longer repeat the first level after he had completed it. The Bloodbath Souls were definitely a valuable currency.
Carrying 200 Bloodbath Souls with him, Lin Ke excitedly opened the golden chest at the center of the great hall. Bright lights erupted from within and a generous amount of rewards instantly entered his inventory.
Although it looked like a huge amount of rewards, it was actually just for visual effect.
Lin Ke looked at the final amount of the rewards, there were 50 diamonds and 500 Bloodbath Souls.
This was the final reward given by the first level of Bloodbath Hall.
Lin Ke was satisfied. The chest had rewarded more than twice the amount of Bloodbath Souls he looted from the protectors, totaling the amount of Bloodbath Souls to 700.
There was also the other reward of 50 diamonds.
This was merely the first level. When he completes more levels in the future, the reward would probably even multiply.
Facing the protectors of the next level, Lin Ke had no intention of continuing the battle.
He knew that just because his first level was simple, he would not necessarily have a similar experience with the second level. He intended to consult Dra and the rest once they had returned on whether he should strengthen the team further – for instance, by purchasing runes from the Enchantment Hall or by purchasing Essence for upgrades using prestige points in the arena.
However, before that happened, Lin Ke could not suppress his temptation any longer. He opened the shop in the Bloodbath Hall to find out what was on sale there.”
“My God!”
Lin Ke was immediately stunned. What were all those dazzling items?
There were heroes’ Soul Shards everywhere!
From white grade, average rating heroes to dark-gold grade heroes, their Soul Shards could all be purchased using Bloodbath Souls!
However, upon closer inspection, Lin Ke realized that not all heroes had Soul Shards that could be purchased via Bloodbath Souls.
There were only limited options for heroes within each grade.
As such, although Lin Ke saw the Soul Shards for Avina, neither Lucy nor Kara’s Soul Shards could be found. Obviously, there were many heroes that were unavailable for purchase in this shop.
Regardless, this was still a remarkable thing!
In the Bloodbath Shop, each white grade Soul Shard of an average rating hero cost 10 Bloodbath Souls.
Whereas it would take 20 Soul Shards to fuse into a white grade hero, a feat that could be accomplished with 200 Bloodbath Souls.
Soul Shards for green grade heroes cost 20 Bloodbath Souls each, which meant 600 Bloodbath Souls were needed to summon one.
Blue grade heroes’ Soul Shards cost 30 Bloodbath Souls each, 1200 Bloodbath Souls would then be needed to summon a blue grade hero.
Following after, the price for Soul Shards of purple grade heroes increased exponentially, 60 Bloodbath Souls were needed for each Soul Shards, bringing the cost to summon a purple grade hero to 3600 Bloodbath Souls.
100 Bloodbath Souls were required for a Soul Shard of gold grade hero and 200 for that of a dark-gold grade hero. Judging from the Soul Shards needed to summon them, it would not take long to realize that the Bloodbath Souls required to summon one were staggering.
To fuse the Soul Shards into a dark-gold grade hero like Alice and Dra, calculating from the 120 Soul Shards needed, it would require a grand total of 24,000 Bloodbath Souls, a far cry from the 700 Bloodbath Souls in Lin Ke’s possession right now!
However, Lin Ke did not need to think too much into it. Other than Bloodbath Souls, Lin Ke needed to fulfill other conditions in order to be eligible to purchase Soul Shards for blue grade heroes.
He could only conduct the exchange after passing the third level.
Similar conditions were imposed for heroes with higher grades. As long as Lin Ke did not achieve these conditions, he would not be able to obtain his desired hero even if he had a million Bloodbath Souls.
There were no conditions imposed on the purchase of white grade and green grade Soul Shards, but obviously, Lin Ke was uninterested in them.
Of course, he already had 2 dark-gold grade heroes, some gold grade, and purple grade heroes. Even his lowest grade hero, Lucy, was a blue grade hero. How would he be interested in white grade and green grade Soul Shards?
It could still be acceptable if Lin Ke could summon these heroes in completion. However, the point was that Lin Ke would not spend any of the Bloodbath Souls in purchasing these white grade and green grade Soul Shards. In fact, he would not spend them on blue grade, purple grade, and golden grade Soul Shards either. He would channel all his efforts into saving this currency to only exchange for a dark-gold grade hero in the future!
