The Elemental Tower - Chapter 58
Chapter 58: Take Lord Lin Ke Back!
In Lin Ke’s opinion, the grand prize of the sixth-day server opening event was lucrative enough, but he could still earn more rewards from it.
In this event, the first place’s reward was the most attractive, and the second place rewarded items that were quite decent too. However, the grade of the hero rewarded in the third place was immediately downgraded to gold grade, a significant difference from the former two places.
Rewards for players in the 4th till 10th place were even more pitiful. There were no heroes awarded in exchange for a few dozen pieces of universal Soul Shards – merely gold grade ones.
After that, there were no more rewards for rankings. Only the top 10 ranked players were fortunate enough to be rewarded for their ranks.
This did not mean that other players could not benefit at all from the event.
In addition, there was still a special reward that could be obtained as long as a certain milestone was achieved.
Lin Ke looked at the special reward and saw that the milestone was fairly simple: obtain 10 heroes.
This was not difficult. Lin Ke counted Alice, Dra, Avina, Lucy, and Kara and concluded that he already had half of what was needed.
He still had 20 Summoning Cards, albeit they were only Summoning Cards from the Basic Altar. However, this would produce the arrival of at least 2 heroes.
If Lin Ke was lucky, perhaps there would even be 3 or 4 heroes.
Most important of all, now that Lin Ke had visited the Bloodbath Shop, he had a new plan.
He could spend Bloodbath Souls in that shop to purchase a new hero, reaching a grand total of 10 heroes in his possession.
The lowest grade hero would only require 200 Bloodbath Souls to purchase.
Lin Ke let out a soft sigh. This reward was supposed to be an effortless one to earn. For any normal player, they only needed to mess around and would have more than 10 heroes by their side on Day 6. They could earn heroes from simply leveling up and completing quests.
Unlike himself, Lin Ke could only rely on Summoning Cards to summon new heroes.
He did not mind his initial decision to save up on Bloodbath Souls anymore.
After all, Lin Ke could still earn this currency later on. Right now, what mattered was that he could not forgo the rewards for completing this milestone.
There were three rewards for owning 10 heroes, which was one gold color EXP scroll, 20 divine fruits, and a high-level Summoning Treasure Chest.
Whether it was the divine fruits or the EXP scroll, they were useful items for Lin Ke to have. The Treasure Chest was no different, Lin Ke could not withhold his temptation.
450 diamonds could be used to open the high-level Summoning Treasure Chest and retrieve 3 high-level Summoning Cards from within.
This was a way of selling high-level Summoning Cards cheap to the players. Originally priced at 300 diamonds per high-level Summoning Cards, players could now obtain it for 150 diamonds.
There was no reason why Lin Ke would reject such a cheap offer.
Besides, once the 10 heroes’ milestones had been achieved, there were still many other goals for players to aim for. Once these were completed too, would there be even more rewards?
The first milestone tested the players on the quantities of their heroes, would the milestones later on test their qualities instead?
Lin Ke was unsure of this, but he decided that he must earn this reward and look at what else that could be offered.
Once the decision had been made, Lin Ke committed himself to the matter.
Of course, by that, it only meant that he went to build another 2 units of dormitories.
After all, once he had achieved that milestone, the number of heroes he had would increase to more than 10 heroes. There was a lack of dormitories around now, hence Lin Ke needed to build more.
Lin Ke would try his best to build as much as possible at that moment. He would like to fill up all the remaining building units by the next day or the day after.
The defensive facilities were once again ignored by Lin Ke.
On another note, why had Dra and the rest not return yet?
**************
Under the dense canopy of the forest, a few dark figures dashed across in the blink of an eye, leaving a trail of werewolves corpses in their path. The earth beneath was dyed red by their blood.
A few cautious beasts laid low and monitored from afar, attempting to approach the trail.
The werewolves, who were once kings of the forest, would soon become a scrumptious meal to feast on!
The dark figures stopped at a distance. In front of all those figures was none other than Dra, who had just made contact with Lin Ke.
Behind her, Avina, Lucy, and Kara were seen soon after as well. They were mildly exhausted trying to keep up with Dra.
“Most of the werewolves were already cleared within a certain radius.”
Dra inspected her surroundings. “However, I’m worried that a few of the tough ones had escaped. There were only the sick and old ones in their nest. It was as though they were purposely left there for us to kill.”
Lucy shook her head and said, “I don’t think they left them there for us. It’s probably for the people of Feathered Hawk Knight Squad. What are we to the werewolves? We’re just a tougher bone to chew on. They wouldn’t leave their clansman for us to kill.”
“Besides, they’re Vengeful Werewolves. A species that seeks revenge for the smallest of grievances wouldn’t make such a decision.” Avina nodded and agreed with Lucy’s assessment. From her perspective, only the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad could drive the werewolves to such measures.
These few days, the Beastmen armies passed through this area and were followed by the Feathered Hawk Knight Squad. The werewolves must have gotten wind of the news and decided to move the strong and healthy ones away to preserve their vitality. Those left behind were the old and weak werewolves with the lowest combat power.
After all, the werewolves were a populous species, it was impossible that they could preserve and protect everyone. Abandoning the weakest part of their group seemed to be a common and justifiable decision from their perspective.
“This is great. From Lord Lin Ke’s perspective, a day not spent fighting the werewolves is a day that can be spent on upgrading our capabilities. Once we have strengthened combat powers and more sisters by our side, the werewolves would be no match even if they mobilized their entire nest.”
Kara spoke softly at the side, “Besides, the tower’s defensive ability should be very powerful. We can suggest to Lord Lin Ke that he build more structures like the Arrow Tower, it’ll be useful to our defensive ability in the future.”
After walking a distance, Dra saw a river not far ahead. She turned around and instructed the rest, “You all can return first. Lord Lin Ke wanted to have some fish soup, I need to catch some fish for this.”
“It’s no rush, Dra.” Avina smiled and said, “We aren’t rushing to anywhere, you can take your time catching fish. We could use some rest too.”
Seeing as the top of the tower was now visible from a distance, Dra shrugged. “Alright then, since you all are willing, just wait here for a moment.”
Observing Dra quickly approaching the river, Lucy suddenly jumped in excitement and shouted, “You can do it, Dra! Defeat that bastard, Alice, and take Lord Lin Ke back!”
Dra lost her balance and nearly fell into the river. She turned around with her face flushing, and asked in shock, “What are you talking about?!”
“You can do it! You can do it!” Lucy continued jumping and said. She was instantly dragged back by Kara, who laughed and waved to Dra.
Dra could not stand it any longer. She dipped her hand into the river and went for it. Dra had already caught two fresh fish.
