Lu Jia’er was the first one to reach Jin Xiangdong. She held him up and saw his chest soaked in blood. She was seized with panic like a duck in a thunderstorm and her voice was trembling as she said his name, “Ace?”
“Xiangdong!” Jin Xiangdong came over as well. She did not know what to do, her eyes filled with fear and guilt.
Though Jin Xiangdong possessed strong healing power, the bullet wound was different from an external injury. When the bullet entered a human body, the strong impact would induce a cavity effect. At the moment, his entire awareness was dominated by the pain. He had passed out.
Jin Xianglan’s face was pale from fright. After the initial stage of panic, she found a shred of sanity left. She lifted her wrist and clicked something on her watch. “Dr. John, please come to Lab 1 at Section C. My brother is shot with a gun…” She said hastily.
Because of the sound of the gunshot, the security guards dashed over again. Several of them carried Jin Xiangdong to Lab 1 in Section C.
Lu Jia’er wanted to follow them. But she was stunned from behind and she lost consciousness.
When Lu Jia’er came about, she realized that once again, she was tied to a huge piece of equipment. Only this time, she was not lying. Instead, she was on her feet with her back against a cold steel plate. Her hands, feet, and waist were tied to it.
She looked to the front, the center of the lab. There was a huge AR image. There were some researchers in white coats and they were swiping the images with their hands, mumbling something, as if they were analyzing her data.
She heard the crutches again. She saw Jin Shengping stepping over. “You are up!”
This time, Lu Jia’er did not argue with him because she was too anxious to do so. “Mr. Jin, where is Ace? How is he?”
Jin Shenping took a look at her and replied, “His surgery has been completed.”
“How did it go?” Lu Jia’er asked another question.
“He is okay now.” Jin Shengping answered calmly.
“Is he really?” Lu Jia’er tried to confirm.
Jin Shengping added, “He may need to rest for a few days.”
Finally, Lu Jia’er was relieved. She collected herself and said to Jin Shengping, “Are you going to tell him the truth?”
“What truth?” Jin Shengping was playing dumb with her.
“His identity.” Lu Jia’er said.
“His identity is that he is my son, isn’t it?” Jin Shengping remained unswayed.
Lu Jia’er laughed grimly. “Your biological son should be the one lying in that secret lab!”
Jin Shengping glanced at her but did not deny it. “Yes. The one lying in the secret lab is my biological son.”
His honesty came as a surprise to Lu Jia’er. “If I am right, you and your daughter created me and Ace to save him! That is what you referred to as paternal love last time!”
Jin Shengping didn’t try to deny it. “Yes, we did create you and Ace to save him.”
He was so candid. Lu Jia’er sneered at him. “I am an advanced AI. Then what is Ace?”
“What do you think?” Jin Shengping asked her instead of feeding her the answer.
“Genetic cloning?” Lu Jia’er provided her answer.
Jin Shengping put on a smile. “Jia’er, you are smart!”
Lu Jia’er did not appreciate that compliment at all. “How many successful cases were there for that experiment? You are not going to tell me that up till now, Ace and I are the most perfect cases, are you?”
Jin Shengping smiled again and his answer was just as honest as before. “Yes! Currently, you and Ace are the most flawless of all!”
