The Grand Duke’s Little Lady - Chapter 32
Ariel bit her lower lip hard.
She wanted to make an excuse.
But it was clearly her fault that she used magic in the first place.
‘I had to admit what I had to admit.’
“Yes… I broke it. I’m sorry.”
“Then you know there will be a consequence.”
‘This is the end.’
‘Do I have to get out of this house?’
‘Now, Susan, Sir Mathius, Woods, Holston, Dalton, and Mr. Allen… I will never see them again.’
When she thought of that, tears suddenly burst out of her eyes.
“I-I don’t want to go home.”
Tears like chicken poo fell silently from the round, big eyes.
(t/n: seriously Author-nim? Out of all things you can describe her tears with, you use chicken poop? )
Ariel spoke in a trembling voice.
“P.. Please… Huck… Don’t kick me out of here, please… “
“….”
Lucian frowned on his forehead.
‘I feel like a villain.’
He can’t say he’s not a villain to this girl, but he felt bad to see this reaction.
‘Sometimes, she looks at me as if she’s believing that it’s okay for her life to be mine.’
‘Even her mana doesn’t listen to other people, and only listens to me.’
‘Is she shaking because she’s afraid I’m gonna kick her out?’
His selfish and arrogant judgment was completely twisted.
It was natural for him to see other people scared of him. He was used to it.
But it’s different if it’s her.
The words spontaneously came out of his mouth roughly.
“Stop crying.”
Unfortunately, he had no idea.
The more he pushed for her like that, the more it’ll pour out.
“Hick. I, don’t, wanna, cry, either, hick, waaaaaah….! “
Ariel burst into tears loudly.
She was afraid of Lucian telling her not to cry, so she tried to endure it, but she was filled with so much sorrow when she thought she would break up with him.
Lucian came down from where he sat and walked around the bed.
Ariel who was busy crying, couldn’t see what expression he was making.
After wandering next to the bed one or two more times, he spoke again.
“Stop crying.”
“Hick, but, it’s, not workiiiing… Hick.”
“Damn it.”
Lucian held Ariel’s face with his hands and fixed it in place.
Ariel was crying frantically and when her eyes met his blue eyes, she stopped crying for a moment.
“Don’t look at me like that.”
He lowered his reddish and warm lips around Ariel’s eyes.
It scattered her tears.
‘Why did you even cry?’
Lucian slowly wiped the tears smudged on her white cheeks with his lips.
He liked that the crying sounds are fading.
Ariel was surprised by Lucian’s behavior, but she calmly let his lips pass.
‘It felt different from when Susan kissed me.’
It was hotter and itchier.
Her anxiety seemed to subside a little somehow.
When Ariel stopped crying slowly, Lucian let go of her cheeks.
He threw his eyes out the window.
“I don’t like people who break promises.”
“Hick. “
He frowned at the intermittent sound of a hiccup.
“That’s why all the people who broke their promise to me are dead. Even now, I can just kill you.”
Ariel thought while hiccupping.
‘So I’m not being kicked out, I’m going to get killed. ‘
Lucian opened his mouth.
“But I won’t kill you. I don’t want to kill you. That’s why I forgive you.”
Ariel whimpered and wiped away her tears.
‘Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? Shouldn’t it be like he’ll forgive me so he won’t kill me? ‘
‘But…. ‘
‘Forgive? ‘
Ariel looked up.
His logic seems somewhat strange, but now that the word of forgiveness has been mentioned, her hope has arisen.
“You’re not going to kill me?”
“I won’t kill you.”
“T-then I don’t have to leave this house? Didn’t I broke the deal?”
“No.”
He turned his eyes to Ariel after a short answer. And said arrogantly.
“If I want to break the deal with someone, I don’t talk nonsense. I get rid of them.”
‘T-then, thank you for not killing me? ‘
Tears welled up in Ariel’s eyes again when she realized that she’ll not die or be kicked out.
Lucian’s face hardened.
“Why are you crying? Do you still have anything to cry within that little body of yours?”
“I won’t cry! I won’t cry!”
Ariel hurriedly wiped away her tears.
The skin where she wiped harshly was flushed.
Lucian touched her head.
“You’re so weak. Why is your body like this?”
He reached out and grabbed Ariel’s wrist. It was as thin as a delicate doll.
“Did you really eat well? I don’t see any changes at all. “
“I’m eating well. I really am.”
Ariel quickly stepped up to claim.
“I have three meals a day, afternoon snacks, tea, dessert after dinner, and milk before bed!”
But Lucian didn’t seem very convinced.
Listening with an indifferent look, he let go of Ariel’s wrist and grabbed her chin instead.
A long finger touched her cheek then he let go.
Lucian’s red lips opened.
“…okay. I’ll release the magic ban as of today.”
Ariel’s eyes opened widely.
“Really?”
“Yeah, but you need to learn magic instead.”
‘Learn magic?’
Ariel shrank a little.
The pain of learning magic in the past had remained a deep trauma to her.
Ariel felt an extreme amount of pain when she first learned magic.
It was at the beginning of her training days that she vomited the most blood.
“Even if you don’t learn…”
Lucian’s voice became stiff.
“You said you’d be my wizard. I hate seeing what’s mine, being weak. So learn it properly.”
Ariel bit her little pink lips.
‘Becoming stronger will surely be very painful and difficult. ‘
‘But if doing it will allow me to stay here, then I will. I will do anything if I can stay here.’
“I got it,”
Ariel smiled at Lucian.
“Thank you, Lucian. “
As he looked at her with his cold eyes, he moved his body.
“I’ll go. “
Huh?
“Wait a minute.”
Ariel grabbed onto the hem of his clothes without realizing it.
Lucian, who turned around, looked at her again.
“What. “
Ariel flinched for a moment, but she spoke frankly.
“I haven’t seen you in a long time, so I was wondering if you were real.”
Lucian came back and sat on her bed.
And held Ariel’s cheek painfully and shook her.
“Hey. Your husband is really here. Right? “
“Right. “
Ariel reached out and stroked Lucian’s black hair.
‘Wow, it really feels soft.’
Lucian was dumbfounded.
He can’t believe she’s touching him. Without fear.
Ariel moved her hips next to Lucian, who sat on the bed and sat close to him.
Then she leaned her head against his arm. A burst of soft laughter leaked out.
“You’re really Lucian.”
‘Lucian’s back. I thought we’d see each other in a year. ‘
Lucian’s expression now contained embarrassment beyond absurdity.
The hard and arrogant mask on his face cracked.
However, since there’s still some medicine left Ariel’s system, he quickly pushed her back to sleep.
“I’m sleepy.”
“Sleep.”
“No, I don’t want to…”
Ariel fell asleep, contrary to her last answer as she feels the cool hand brushing her hair.
Lucian, who sat next to the sleeping for a while, went to Mathius at night.
Mathius usually stays inside the Grand Duke’s residence, but for some reason, he went out today. He just came back and was taking off his jacket.
Lucian repressed the disgust he felt by the existence of his father and spoke coldly.
“Tell me.”
“What do you mean?”
“Why she broke her promise and saved whoever that is. And the bastard who caused the accident.”
Mathius looked at Lucian quietly.
“Why should I tell you?”
“So I can kill them.”
Mathius, who untied his long black hair, took off the gloves he had on his hands and shook them off.
The air is stained with blood.
“I’m on my way to kill the bastard who caused the accident.”
For the first time ever since the beginning, it was only at this moment that the hearts of the two people met.
Lucian stared at Mathius, who looked horrifyingly resembling himself, then swung his hand once to completely ruin his office.
*shiiiing*
Lucian spoke coolly in the sound of things breaking and the blazing dust.
“You should have stopped her from getting hurt from the start. You’re included in my revenge.”
He was so angry that I can twist Mathius’ neck right now.
‘Damn this man.’
Lucian was about to turn around suddenly saw something and stopped.
‘What’s this?’
A paper boat folded using pink paper was placed on the shelf of Mathius’ glass display case attached to the wall.
It doesn’t fit well within the dark and desolate place.
Soon Lucian, who deduced the source of the pink paper boat, crumpled his face mercilessly.
*bam*
The door closed hard and fell and rolled back on the floor.
In the room, only a display case and a pink paper boat remained intact without breaking alone.
When Ariel woke up the next day, her recovery began with loud cheers.
She was told that she had fainted for quite a while and that she had been very sick and it’s because of mana congestion.
Ariel was puzzled when she saw Bruno’s serious expression while explaining it.
‘Isn’t that the way it was?’
It was perfectly normal for her in the past.
After using magic, she always lost her consciousness and suffers from a high fever for several days
The same was true when she first joined a group of wizards and learned magic.
Little Ariel suffered from illness caused by her mana every night.
She throws up everything she ate, suffered from fever, and fell down from time to time.
At that time, no one around Ariel took her symptoms seriously and only gave her little to no attention.
He said it was because Ariel wasn’t good enough.
Ariel believed that, too. She’s sick because she’s not good enough.
But even when she became able to handle magic well later, she thought that the after-effects were severe because of her lack of talent.
‘So I took this pain for granted.’
She didn’t even think about how to solve it.
However, no one in the house seemed to think so, including the wizard, Bruno.
Everyone was taking this situation very seriously.
They were all fussy and worried about Ariel’s physical condition.
Bruno brought the medicine on time. It was an orange thick, bitter syrup-type medicine.
“It’s a magic potion that will restore the young madam’s health. It helps the body support mana.”
Ariel took a spoonful of bitter syrup medicine and received a sweet snack from Susan as a prize.
When she got sick, Susan receded and gave her more sweets than usual.
Lucian and Ariel is giving me diabetes AHHHH I CAN’T WAIT FOR THEM TO GROW UP. They’re making me realize that I’ll be single for life *ssob*
And I didn’t expect that meeting between the father and son… so he hated his dad THAT much huh…deym
