Chapter 1903: Game Design

After level 70, there were many new skills, but the drop rate for them was not high.
Even after so many Bosses in Karazhan, no Thief skill had been dropped. As such, they hadn’t expected that High King Maulgar would drop one.
Backstab, Garrotte and Ambush were Lu Li’s most frequently used skills. It was definitely worthwhile for him to invest 5 skill points into these skills, so he had already done so.
The next was equipment. King Maulgar was a Boss that dropped T4 equipment. In the future, there would be many players madly farming this Boss for them.
Because the size of this Instance Dungeon was relatively small, it was a favourite of many Gold Collection Groups. When they entered this Instance Dungeon, they had a chance of obtaining Skill Points, equipment and even other rewards.
A T4 equipment was worth at least 1400 gold.
Was 1400 gold expensive for the item? Well, if you wanted the Transmog Set’s effects, then you would have felt that the 1400 gold cost was not that high.
However, for players like those in Lu Li’s group who were capable of farming strong Instance Dungeons, spending 30,000 gold on a Transmog Set item was not enough.
The Belt of Divine Inspiration was a Dark Gold equipment that had decent, but not exquisite attributes. This was just a temporary item to equip while searching for a better one. The Mages were quiet when it was put up for bidding and someone eventually took it for the base price.
The Hammer of Naaru was also a Dark Gold equipment with strong attributes. It had similar damage to King Maulgar along with a fury effect.
Unfortunately, there were few players that used two-handed Hammers, so Mu Qiu managed to purchase it for its base price.
His current Greatsword of the Brotherhood was also a transitory weapon. At level 70, he was using a level 60 item that had a minute chance of one-shotting its target. The chance was so small that even after a few hundred attacks, it would only happen once.
Maulgar’s Warhelm was an Epic Chain Mail Armor and was given to Remnant Dream.
After all, Remnant Dream was the little hero that everyone needed to defeat the Boss. No one had anything to say if she wanted to take one of the equips.
The next was a T4 set item.
The Pauldrons of the Fallen Hero was an item for Hunters, Mages and Warlocks. There were so many Mages and Warlocks in the team, and the one that eventually won it was called Bloody Bruised.
After looting the equipment, everyone looked to the Boss’ four minions. They rushed in and were soon engaged in a fierce battle. These monsters were also quite powerful despite their lack of support, but were eventually defeated without much issue.
After clearing everything else up and picking up whatever quest items that each person needed, they continued ahead.
“We can’t let the others take Gruul in this Instance Dungeon before us. The use of Misdirection needs to be kept strictly confidential,” Lu Li said seriously. The Misdirection had caused the Boss to abando its underlings, which actually seemed quite ridiculous. Most other First Clearing teams would just use Misdirection on one of the underlings instead. When the underling didn’t leave, they would think Misdirection wasn’t useful for this fight and wouldn’t use it again. If Lu Li hadn’t experienced rebirth, it was likely that he would have never worked this out.
After several waves of monsters, they finally reached the depts of Gruul’s lair.
There was a huge underground space, and Gruul was squatting in the middle.
Gruul was a huge, one-eyed, dreadful beast.
Some said that the Gronns gave birth to the ogre race. Even if this was true, the Gronns had no love for their children. The way they ruled the Ogre tribes was ruthless and barbaric. Regardless of how they came to be, it was clear that the Gronns had unparalleled force.
The Gronn’s ancestors were rock guardians created by the Titans on Draenor. They had huge granite bodies which were majestic like a mountain. They had endless strength and the ability to terraform the earth.
They followed the mission they were given by the Titans and shaped the earth and oceans of Draenor. They fought an eternal war against the enemies of the Titans – the primitive plant monsters of Draenor.
After the Titans left Draenor, most of the guardians were affected by the curse of flesh and blood and turned into half-rock half-organic one-eyed giants. Their descendants were the Gronn.
Although not as powerful as the rock guardians, the Gronn still inherited a portion of their strength from their ancestors and their abilities were closely related to the earth elementals of Draenor. As such, the most powerful Gronn had the power to alter the landscape. One such such place which was transformed by a Gronn in Draenor was called the Blade’s Edge Mountains. The sharp rocks all around was as a result of Gruul, the father of Gronn and the dragon slayer.
There were also some scholars in the game that said that the earliest Ogres were actually a product of Gronns that had been further affected by the curse of flesh and blood.
In fact, they regarded Orcs as another branch of the Gronn’s metamorphosis.
The origins of this mythology were from the Cyclops of Sicily from ancient Greek mythology.
In addition to Gruul, there were also some other monsters roaming around this
huge area.
The players called these mobs ‘110s’.
The monsters were divided into two types depending on how they moved. The first was stationary and was called a guard monster. In addition, there was a monster that would constantly patrol a certain route. This was called the patrol monster.
When players usually killed monsters in Instance Dungeons or killed monsters in the Wild, they would usually kill the guard monsters. However, if they were interrupted by a patrolling monster, it would usually exceed the party’s abilities and lead to them getting wiped. As such, they needed to pay attention to the patrol routes to ensure that they would avoid that situation.
“Kill the monsters first. Hunters, use Misdirection so they will come to use. Kill them slowly; there is no rush. If we accidentally pull the Boss, we’ll get wiped,” Lu Li said.
“There’s no need to use Misdirection. Let’s just pull the Boss out,” Fat Monkey responded, looking annoyed at the monsters.
“Are you getting too used to the easy life? Do you really think it would be that easy? If the Boss was designed like that, then the designer would be fired.”
Lu Li was speechless at what this guy had said; it was even dumber than Azure Sea Breeze.
“Hey, I studied game design, I almost became a designer,” Fat Monkey grinned.
“Have you graduated?” Lu Li asked.
“I have,” Fat Monkey answered without hesitation.
“You must have plagiarised your thesis.”
Lu Li didn’t believe it at all. In his opinion, people who managed to get through university were all very intelligent.
Fat Monkey felt that he was being insulted, which finally removed all respect he had for Lu Li. He retorted directly, “I am still better someone who is illiterate. You managed to become a boss, so why couldn’t I graduate?”
As he spoke, Fat Monkey started to laugh. If this continued, Fat Monkey really thought that he would be sent by Lu Li to fight the Boss.
