The former jovial young man retorted,
“Is there something wrong with that?”
Feng Qing’an looked up at the sky. The purple heavenly lightning hung above his head like a sharp sword, not able to fall, something even a Heavenly Immortal or an even greater power may not be able to accomplish.
“Beyond the heavens and earth, there is a wider world. But once you ascend this position, you can only stay here, you can’t see the beyond anymore. Seventy thousand years ago, I wanted to abdicate, but the ones qualified to succeed me all fled!”
At this point, the young man’s face revealed extreme annoyance.
“Later, I trained a few more, but once they got in touch with the outside world, none of them were willing to take my place.
Eventually, I had to wait for an obedient little fellow to come along, but I found out that even if he was willing, it would be useless. Before I ascended to the position of Master of Heavenly Dao, I had grabbed too much. My successor would at least have to inherit everything I possess.”
“What do you mean by ‘grabbed too much’?”
Feng Qing’an couldn’t help but ask.
“What do you think those constitutions I endowed you with are?”
“I don’t know.”
Feng Qing’an was very straightforward. If he could have guessed, he wouldn’t have been reduced to his current predicament, like a fish on the chopping block, to be exploited at will. Even though the big brother in front of him had no ill intentions, he was about to entrust him with a tremendous responsibility.
“Each of your constitution traits comes from the Innate Gods and Demons, remnants of the Innate Origin left behind after transcendence. I acquired all these before I became the Master of Heavenly Dao, so my successor must also possess them.”
“Seems like you didn’t spare any effort on this system then.”
Feng Qing’an couldn’t help but make a sarcastic comment.
“I mainly focused on how to dump all of my burdens onto you. Once I had a workable solution, I no longer bothered to think it through. That’s why it was a bit rough. The traces were too heavy, those divine demon origins were practically handed out for free, and you seemed quite happy using them.”
“…”
“Why have you gone silent?”
Seeing Feng Qing’an fall silent, the young man didn’t let up.
“Why me? Why was I chosen?”
Feng Qing’an stared deeply at the young man before him. His actions were far from arbitrary. After all, this was the third “big brother” he had met, and this person might not even be the one really in control of the Heavenly Dao.
“How can I answer that?”
The young man showed a look of distress. He deliberated a moment and then sighed softly.
“Well, anyway, you can’t run away now. The truth is, I chose you simply because I happened to have the idea at the time, and you just happened to fly in front of me then. I brought you in. If it weren’t for that, you wouldn’t have landed in this part of the world. Instead, you should have gone to other worlds.”
“You’re being too arbitrary.”
Feng Qing’an thought he was special, or that the, legacy of being a Guardian Beast Master he carried was special enough for the Master of Heavenly Dao to see him differently. However, the truth was, this simply happened by chance. What was this about?
“This wasn’t something that required special, solemn treatment. It doesn’t matter who comes to inherit my position. What matters is who can replace me.”
The young man casually waved his hand.
“Aren’t you worried that after I inherit your position, I might misuse it?”
“Pfft… Misuse? Ha-ha-ha-ha!”
Upon hearing Feng Qing’an’s words, the young man tried to maintain his composure but ended up laughing aloud.
“What are you laughing at?”
Feng Qing’an’s face darkened.
“If you were to become a saint of the Heavenly Dao, everything you do would have profound meaning. How could you misuse it?”
“What if everything under my rule collapses?”
“If you can do that, then go for it. It might even be a way to transcend.”
The young man laughed heartily, completely unconcerned.
“Are you really a saint of the Heavenly Dao?”
Feng Qing’an questioned.
“How about we finish off these thunderbolts first? Or maybe I should make this a bit more challenging?”
Boom-Bang-Bang-
With the young man’s words, the tribulation cloud that seemed frozen in translucent amber suddenly unfroze. Not just that, the rumbling thunders were endowed with a divine form and consciousness, becoming thousands, millions of tribulation purple dragons. The dragons roared and roved in the tribulation cloud, brewing up a destructive power capable of shattering a minor world.
“Big brother, I was wrong.”
Looking at the pack of dragons hovering above his head, Feng Qing’an admitted his mistake, but was still puzzled.
“That’s good, knowing your mistake and correcting it makes you a good kid.”
The young man nodded approvingly. The pack of roaring dragons in the tribulation cloud immediately froze, turning into lifelike dragon sculptures.
“But big brother, if you’re in charge of the Heavenly Dao, why do you view this end of the world with such disdain?”
Feng Qing’an still couldn’t hold back his confusion.
“Disdain? You mean me casually passing on the position to you?”
“Yes.”
“You’ve been exposed to worldly kingdoms and should have read history books. The founding emperor and the second generation emperor both sit on the same position. But do they wield the same power?”
“So, I’m going to be a figurehead saint.”
Feng Qing’an suddenly saw the light.
“What are you talking about? How can an omnipotent being be a puppet? It’s just even if you possess the same Heavenly Dao power as me, you can’t do what I can do.
